Zoya Whisper Collection Swatches and Review

press sample

Hello friends!!

How are you today?! I’m sure you’ve already seen lots and lots of swatches of Zoya’s Whisper Collection already but I still really want to show you mine! This is actually the second time I swatch these, I received them a few weeks ago and usually I loose  my head and drop everything to swatch Zoya because its one of my favorite brands but these babies came in a horrible time for my nails.. I was down to something less than nubs and was totally down in the dumps about the whole swatching and blogging thing. So, I swatched these, loved them, then got sick and was out for about a week and then when I went to edit I just wasn’t feeling my pics (damn you huge lints that appear out of nowhere!!) and really wanted to do a better job since I really loved this collection. So, here are my final swatches I really hope you like them!

Cala

Is described by the maker as a soft nude with a kiss of warmth that will flatter most skin tones. I like not love this shade although I think it looks pretty nice against my skin tone, I just not a huge fan of the peachy nude. You see three thin coats plus top coat in the pic.

April

Is described by the maker as a light, rosy toned neutral that is a modern take on blush. I really really love this shade and I am quite pleasantly surprised that it was so opaque. I did three thin coats plus glossy top coat for the pic.

Eastyn

Is described by the maker as a subtle grayed grape that is more interesting than mauve and gives a modern alternative that is ever so wearable. Love it! I was surprised that I liked this so much but then again I’ve always liked mauve-y shades. You see three thin coats plus top coat in the pic.

Misty

Is described by the maker as an easy to wear taupe that is an updated version of gray with just a touch of green to make it daring. This actually surprised me because I didn’t think that it would look so green on the nails but I guess my skin tone just makes that green undertone pop! You see three thin coats plus top coat in the pic.

Ireland

Is described by the maker as a uniquely wearable green that is muted enough to make it subtle yet still interesting. This green is well balanced between blue and yellow so it’s flattering on all skin tones. Now this one I really love and can totally see myself using over and over again. It is the perfect soft olive to throw on your nails for any occasion. You see three coats plus glossy top coat in the pic.

For some reason Ireland and Misty look identical if I look at them on my laptop (where I always blog) but super different on my phone (where I crop and watermark) so just in case you’re weirded out and wondering why in the world Zoya would put two identical shades in one collection, here is a collage with Ireland on top and Misty on bottom.. no, Zoya did not loose it’s mind, these shades are different.

Lake

Is described by the maker as a softened blue that gives the effect of serene water with just a hint of vibrancy to preserve its luminosity. Love love love this one!! it is the perfect in between the traditional baby blue and pastel blue. As a blue nail polish lover I definitely love this! You see three thin coats plus glossy top coat in the pic.

Overall I found the formula to be very nice and easy to work with, a bit on the thin side so you definitely don’t want to overload the brush or your cuticles will be flooded but very nice once you get the hang of that. I went with super thin coats (which is why I did 3 coats instead of two) and was able to work very well with all six shades. It is self leveling and quite opaque for colors like Cala or April which tend to be patchy.

Do you need the whole collection? well if you are a die hard nude lover you do, if not I would suggest you pick  favorites and purchase those. My favorites are Lake, Ireland and April. What are yours?

Thank you so much for reading! let me know your favorite shades in the comments!

  1. Your swatches are gorgeous! I still can’t get really excited for this collection – I think because most of these remind me of polishes I already have. I’m thinking Eastyn might be a need though.
