Hello friends!!

I was asked by the brand Aurora Cosmetics to try their products a couple of weeks ago, I love trying new brands so of course I said yes! Aurora Cosmetics is a cruelty free brand that makes “gel effect” polish that does not require a lamp (yay!), they were kind enough to send me six shades plus a top coat for review, these came in the prettiest package!

Before we get to each polish, let’s learn a little more about what is Gel Effect as per Aurora Cosmetics as well as instructions on how to use:

WHAT is GEL EFFECT?

Don’t you wish you had a nail polish which has all the pros of gel polish and regular polish? This is what the GEL EFFECT nail polish does.

Like the regular polish, it is easy and convenient to use and fast dry without UV lamp.

Like the Gel polish, it is shinny and durable with the persistence of up to 2 weeks.

Finally, like the regular polish, it can be removed easily with the nail remover.

WHY GEL EFFECT?

It’s simple. Because it is so convenient and easy to use while it delivers the salon-quality gel manicure without UV-lamp or any professional equipments.

One more thing – It costs much less.

HOW TO USE?

  1. Apply the base coat.
  2. After 30 second, apply the nail color.
  3. After 45 second, apply the second coat.
  4. After 1 min, apply Aurora GEL EFFECT top coat.
  5. AURORA GEL EFFECT top coat dries in 3~4 min in the air.

For the best result, AURORA GEL EFFECT top coat is a must.

Now that we got that all out of the way, let’s look at some pretty polish!

Balsamina’s Tear: is a beautiful milky nude, the formula on this was better than I expected as these colors tend to be super cheer and need a million coats but this was surprisingly opaque in just three coats.

Los Angeles Smog: is a pretty taupe with ahmazing formula. It’s a very sober and chic color perfect for any time of the year. Two coats plus top coat in the pics

Lanikai Sea: is a super bright blue which reminds me a lot of Zoya’s Robyn (one of my fav polishes ever). Two coats plus top coat in the pics

Blackout Blue: is a dark deep blue with beautiful shimmer . These types of blues are what got me into polish back in the day. Love this shade!! Two coats plus top coat in the pics.

That Kind of Rich: I love this tone of gold! not too yellow, not orange, perfect! The shine was pretty good too and you really don’t need to top coat.

Gel Effect Top Coat– I really liked this top coat, it dried rather quickly unlike other gel effect top coats I’ve tried. So, this guy gets two thumbs up. Featured below is Balsamina’s Tears stamped with Pshycho Fushia and That Kind of Rich

What do I think of these? These shades are super popular and the formula was pretty good on all of them, not too thick or thin, spread really nicely on the nail. The brush was perfect (round tip) and really made application easy and manageable. Dry time was very good, the polish really dries as fast as they mention in the instructions. As far as durability, I have to point out that  I have only tried most of these only for the sake of swatching BUT had one (Los Angeles Fog) on for about four days without any chipping or tip wear. This is great for me because cindy (my dominant hand) usually chips within the first day I have given up on her.

Overall I really liked these and have had a great experience with the brand in general. So, if you like any of these shades go ahead and give them a try! You’ll find all the buying info below or simple click on the name of the polish to be linked directly to it.

Thank you so much for reading!!

  1. I always wonder about the efficacy of “gel effect” things- I feel like I’m never really sure exactly which part of gel-like they manage to achieve (or not). I like the collection of colors here, especially the nude. And I feel like they look really great on you!
