Pure Ice – Sweet and Sour Collection Swatches and First Impressions

Hi friends!!

Today I’m super excited to show you Pure Ice‘s newest collection! First of all I have to say that Pure Ice is a brand that I usually pass on, I rarely go to walmart and their polish section because it gives me a bit of anxiety seeing all the swatching in the shelves done by customers and well I’ve kind of gotten accustomed to the indie and salon brand quality. I do own some Pure Ice’s and they’re a bit hit or miss, some are amazing and some are just meh but I’d been hearing a lot of good things about them lately so I wanted to give them another try. How is their new  sweet and sour collection? let me give you some info first and then I’ll tell you my opinon on these.

The sweet and sour collection is made of six  vibrant shades with their new “juicy matte” finish. I was super curious to see what this juicy matte finish was all about! Aren’t you? Let’s take a look at these one by one. The first three are all three coats and the last are all two coats, no top coats on any of these swatches

There is still some vnl with three coats on this guy but I really hate fourth coats… none the less this is my favorite of all and well worth the vnl

So, what is the juicy matte finish?  To me it reminds me an awful lot of the Zoya Satins with a very significant difference, the formula on these is not as thick and way easier to work with, you don’t have to work as quick with these either. And I liked the satins so you can say I loved these. I waited about two minutes in between coats which gave enough time for the previous coat to be dry.

Now, I had these guys on solely for swatching purposes so at this moment I am not able to tell you about overall drying time or about how long they last on the nail. But I will be  playing with them next week and will be able to tell you about it.

What do you think about this collection? I am very happy with it, I love seeing all their new colors lately and ppl raving about them. Congrats on stepping up your game Pure Ice!

Thank you so much for reading!!

  1. FIRST thing that comes to mind when I see “squishy matte,” is JELLYBEANS! Julie G came out with a Jelly Bean finish collection of polishes this spring. I like these colors better. Pure Ice, in my opinion, is underrated and it’s nice to see them stepping up their game:). Thanks for sharing XOXOXO

      • Ok Scaanlior,I was buying the WSI reports in the past, but not anymore. He could be real or not… I don’t know… either way he is full of it! And no, I am not ashamed of myself. Neither should anyone here. We disagree on many things but as a whole, we are on the same page with the same goal.

  2. I kind of love all of these. I may have to brave Wal-mart. Their polish section gives me the willies with everything mixed up and the shelf swatching, but these colors are lovely and I have a desperate need to know if they water marble!
